Zhang Daqian · The dedication is to the artist’s American friend, Esther Speyer. A devoted supporter of the arts, she and her husband, Jules Speyer, were introduced to Chang Dai-chien through his student Diana Kan. The couple photographed the artist and received works personally gifted by him.
